Recommending Takashimaya restaurants

Takashimaya is a department store located at the Somerset / Orchard area. I used to visit it a lot when I worked in Singtel (Somerset) as it really got some nice restaurants that are definitely worth a try (let alone the food hall at Basement 2). I'd like to recommend some of them to you & if you are tired of shopping in the area, pay a visit to those restaurants and you won't be disappointed.

A Fine Shanghai Cuisine Concept.
Imperial Treasure Fine Shanghai Cuisine is located in the heart of Orchard district. Indulge in the finest ingredients coupled with impeccable service that will put together an extravagant dining experience for all.

One of my favorite hometown dishes, Gui Hua Tang Ou (Sweer Lotus Root with osmanthus). Actually it's a Hangzhou dish but not a Shanghai one.

This place is GOLD. I discovered it during working at the Somerset area and my encounter with it was totally not planned. I remember I was trying to look for a Japanese restaurant one day in Takashimaya and accidentally found this nice place. My dining-mate that day was also from Jiang Nan (Suzhou to be exact, close to Shanghai) and we have been craving for hometown food for long so we decided on the spot to have dinner there. Some self-acclaimed Shanghainese restaurants in Singapore have disappointed me A LOT in the past so honestly I did not expect too much from it, but it turns out to be SUPER GOOD. They have really good Xiao Long Bao (小笼包), Cai Pao Fan (菜泡饭), Chao Nian Gao (炒年糕, stir-fried rice cake) and some other authentic Shanghai dishes. What makes me love them so much is their signature dish Yan Du Xian (腌笃鲜, fresh & salted pork with bamboo shoot soup
) - one of the all-time favorites of Shanghai / Suzhou / Hangzhou dwellers, but not so famous among people not from Jiang Nan. Their Yan Du Xian, although ingredients-wise can be further improved (but this is acceptable as it's really hard to get authentic ingredients in Singapore), taste-wise it is just PERFECT.
Highly recommend.

Their Yan Du Xian. 好吃! I took the pic.

Imperial Treasure Nan Bei Restaurant @ Takashimaya / Ngee Ann City

Imperial Treasure Nan Bei Restaurant is an amalgamation of flavours from the best of Southern and Northern Chinese cuisine. From the bold flavours of Sichuan to sweet Cantonese desserts and savoury handmade Shanghai bites, you can experience each region’s signature dishes at our pioneer restaurant - and will surely be tempted to explore the world of traditional Chinese cuisine. It's also under the Imperial Treasure group (as with 御园).

I ate there twice, though not as elegant as Imperial Treasure Shanghai Fine Cuisine, it's still a good place to visit in Takashimaya. Their dishes, as mentioned, have a good diversity of different Chinese flavors.

Japanese Katsu: Tonkichi @ Takashimaya

I LOVE PORK KATSU! I LOVE PORK KATSU! I LOVE PORT KATSU!
Important things must be repeated 3 times.
Tonkichi is perhaps the first restaurant I've ever visited in Takashimaya, that's quite a number of years ago! I just can't say no to Japanese food, especially pork katsu. Seriously, who doesn't love meat fried?

They have good Pork cutlet, Shrimp fried, Oyster, Pork Loin, Mentaiko, etc.
